For all homemade pet food recipes:
  • Rice and oats should be cooked. Raw rice and oats will expand in the animal's stomach.
  • Wheat or corn flour may aggravate dog allergies.
  • Eggshell provides much needed calcium and flaxseed provides a good source of omega 3s.


Veggie Dog Treats

  • 1/2 carrot
  • 1/4 cup spinach or green beans, canned or steamed
  • 1/8 cup water
  • 1/8 cup olive oil
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1/8 cup brewers yeast

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

  1. Place carrot, spinach, garlic, water and oil into container.
  2. Select Variable 1.
  3. Turn on machine and quickly increase speed to Variable 10, then to High. Run for 40 seconds until smooth.
  4. Turn machine off and remove lid. Add flour, oats, germ, and yeast to wet mixture.
  5. Select Variable 1.
  6. Turn on machine and quickly increase speed to Variable 10, using the tamper to press ingredients into the blades. Process just until dry ingredients are incorporated.
  7. Turn machine off and remove lid. Roll out dough on floured surface to 1/4-1/2-inch thickness. Cut out treats using a cookie cutter.
  8. Bake on greased cookie sheet for 15 minutes.
